Living in Spicewood, TX

Spicewood is an unincorporated Hill Country community about 35 miles west of Austin, mostly in Burnet County and stretching into Travis and Blanco counties. It sits near Lake Travis and the Pedernales River, and it's where buyers come for room to breathe: acreage, lake views and dark night skies, with Austin still within reach.

Getting around

SH 71 is the main route, running east to Bee Cave and Austin and west to Marble Falls, about 9 miles away. Lakeway and the shopping in Bee Cave are an easy drive for errands and dining.

Things to do

  • Krause Springs, a family-owned swimming hole and campground with 32 springs, listed on the National Register of Historic Places
  • Pace Bend Park, Travis County's largest lake park, with more than nine miles of Lake Travis shoreline, campsites, boat ramps and trails
  • Spicewood Vineyards, a family-owned winery whose vineyard was first planted in 1992
  • Lake Travis for boating, paddling and fishing

Schools

Most of Spicewood is served by Marble Falls ISD, which includes Spicewood Elementary. Some homes with Spicewood addresses fall in Lake Travis ISD instead, so I confirm the school assignment for every address.

A little history
