Living in Hutto, TX

Hutto sits about 7 miles east of Round Rock and has been one of the fastest-growing cities in Central Texas. It still has a small-town downtown, but with new neighborhoods, shopping and dining filling in around it.

Getting around

US 79 runs through town and SH 130 is right next door, so it's a quick drive to Round Rock, Georgetown, Pflugerville and the Samsung campus in Taylor.

Things to do

  • The Hutto Co-Op District, anchored by City Hall, with restaurants including Southside Market
  • Historic downtown Hutto, with local shops and restaurants
  • Hutto Lake Park and Fritz Park for fishing, trails and playgrounds
  • The hippos. You'll spot hippo statues all over town, a nod to the local legend of a circus hippo that escaped from a train in 1915

Schools

Hutto is served by Hutto ISD. The Eastern Williamson County Higher Education Center in Hutto also offers classes from Temple College, Texas A&M-Central Texas and Texas State Technical College.

Homes and neighborhoods

Most homes in Hutto were built from the 2000s to today, and there's still plenty of new construction, which often means builder incentives worth comparing. You'll also find a few older homes near downtown and some acreage on the outskirts.
