Living in Georgetown, TX
Georgetown is the Williamson County seat, about 28 miles north of Austin. It's known for one of the prettiest town squares in Texas, and it has grown into a city with everything from historic homes to large master-planned communities.
Getting around
I-35 runs through Georgetown, with SH 130 and SH 29 nearby. Round Rock is about 15 minutes south, and Austin is an easy drive outside of rush hour.
Things to do
- The historic square, built around the 1911 Williamson County Courthouse, with local restaurants, shops and events
- Southwestern University, founded in 1840 and the oldest university in Texas
- Lake Georgetown for boating, camping and trails, plus Blue Hole Park on the San Gabriel River
- Inner Space Cavern, a cave you can tour right off I-35
- The Red Poppy Festival every April. Georgetown is the "Red Poppy Capital of Texas."
Schools
Most of Georgetown is served by Georgetown ISD, and some areas fall in Leander ISD or other nearby districts. I confirm the school assignment for every address.
Homes and neighborhoods
Georgetown offers Victorian and historic homes near the square, established neighborhoods, Hill Country acreage to the west, new construction to the east, and large master-planned communities, including Sun City Texas, a 55+ community.
