Living in Lago Vista, TX

Lago Vista sits on a Hill Country peninsula on the north shore of Lake Travis, just under 20 miles northwest of downtown Austin. The city's motto is "Live Like You're on Vacation," and with the lake, a city golf course and its own airport, it's easy to see why.

Getting around

RM 1431 is the main route, running east to Jonestown, Cedar Park and US 183, and west toward Marble Falls. Lohman Ford Road and Boggy Ford Road are the other main roads through town.

Things to do

  • Lago Vista Golf Course, an 18-hole, par-72 course owned by the city, with Lake Travis views
  • Arkansas Bend Park, a 323-acre Travis County park with boat ramps, campsites, trails and about two miles of shoreline
  • Lake Travis for boating, fishing and paddling
  • Rusty Allen Airport, the city's general aviation airport on the north side of town

Schools

Almost all of Lago Vista is served by Lago Vista ISD, and a small portion falls in Marble Falls ISD. I confirm the school assignment for every address.

Homes and neighborhoods

You'll find lakefront and lake-view homes, golf course homes, Hill Country homes on wooded lots, and newer construction as the city grows. You'll also find vacant lots for buyers who want to build. Terrain, views and lake access vary a lot from street to street, so I like to tour with buyers to get a feel for each area.

A little history

Lago Vista incorporated in 1984. The city golf course opened as a nine-hole course in 1971 and later expanded to 18 holes.
