Living in Pflugerville, TX

Pflugerville sits about 15 miles northeast of downtown Austin, right between Austin, Round Rock and Hutto. It has grown from a small German farming town into a city of more than 65,000, with a lake, lots of parks and trails, and neighborhoods across a wide range of price points.

Getting around

SH 130 and SH 45 meet in Pflugerville, and I-35 is just to the west. That makes commutes to Austin, Round Rock, the Samsung campus in Taylor and the airport straightforward. FM 1825 (Pecan Street) runs through the heart of the old downtown.

Schools

Most of Pflugerville is served by Pflugerville ISD, while some parts fall in Round Rock ISD or Manor ISD. Because the lines can be close, I always confirm the school assignment for a specific address.

Homes and neighborhoods

Most homes in Pflugerville were built from the 1990s to today. You'll find established neighborhoods like Blackhawk, which has its own golf club, master-planned communities like Falcon Pointe with parks and a splash pad, and plenty of newer construction on the east side toward SH 130. There are a few older homes near downtown too.

A little history

The city is named for Henry Pfluger Sr., a German immigrant who settled here in 1849. Pflugerville incorporated in 1965.
