Living in Liberty Hill, TX

Liberty Hill sits in western Williamson County, about 29 miles northwest of Austin, where the Hill Country starts to open up. It's grown quickly in the last few years, and it still has the small-town downtown and open land that drew people here in the first place.

Getting around

SH 29 and US 183 meet in Liberty Hill. SH 29 runs east to Georgetown and I-35 and west toward Bertram and Burnet, and US 183 heads south to Leander, Cedar Park and Austin.

Things to do

The Liberty Hill International Sculpture Park, with 27 large granite, bronze, concrete and limestone works created after a 1976 international sculpture symposium
Historic downtown, including the Stubblefield building, built in 1871 and now the visitors center
Lake Georgetown and the San Gabriel River, a short drive east for fishing, paddling and trails
Leander and Cedar Park, close by for shopping, dining and the MetroRail

Schools

Liberty Hill is served by Liberty Hill ISD. Some homes with Liberty Hill addresses fall in neighboring districts, so I always confirm the school assignment for a specific address.

Homes and acreage

You'll find a few older homes near downtown, plenty of new construction in master-planned communities, and acreage and ranch properties in the surrounding countryside. New construction often means builder incentives worth comparing, and with acreage I'll help you check wells, septic, surveys, easements and ag exemptions.

A little history

Settlers arrived in the 1840s, and a post office opened in 1853 under the name Liberty Hill, suggested by postmaster W.O. Spencer. The city incorporated in 1999.
