Living in Keller, TX
Keller is a city of about 46,000 in northeast Tarrant County, roughly 15 miles northeast of downtown Fort Worth. It's known for its trails and parks along Big Bear Creek, a historic Old Town and a newer Town Center, and neighborhoods with a range of lot sizes.
Getting around
US 377 runs along the west side of Keller, with I-35W just beyond it, and SH 114 is a short drive north. Keller Parkway (FM 1709) runs east and west, connecting to Southlake, and Davis Boulevard (FM 1938) runs north and south from North Richland Hills to Southlake. DFW Airport is about 15 miles east, and downtown Dallas is about 35 miles away.
Things to do
- The Parks at Town Center, a 102-acre park next to City Hall with two lakes, wildflower meadows, a nature trail and a butterfly garden
- The Big Bear Creek Greenbelt, a 5.7-mile trail across the city linking Keller Sports Park, Bear Creek Park and The Parks at Town Center
- The Keller Pointe, the city's recreation and aquatics center
- Old Town Keller, the city's historic business district with local shops and restaurants
- Keller Town Center, a newer district with City Hall, shops and dining
Schools
Most of Keller is served by Keller ISD, and some areas fall in Northwest ISD. District lines don't follow city limits exactly, so I always confirm the school assignment for a specific address.
Homes and neighborhoods
Keller is mostly single-family homes in established neighborhoods. Hidden Lakes and Marshall Ridge are two of the established neighborhoods buyers ask me about, and you'll also find homes on larger lots, newer custom builds and a few older homes near Old Town. Lot sizes vary a lot across the city, so I compare them carefully along with the home itself.
A little history
The area was first known as Double Springs. The town site was platted as Athol in 1881 along the railroad and renamed Keller within a year for railroad foreman John C. Keller. The city incorporated in 1955.
