Around Austin & Round Rock: Halloween Weekend, Dia de los Muertos and Early November Events

by Trina Heinmiller

Welcome to Around Austin & Round Rock, a weekly guide from Southern Luxe Group to what's happening in Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Hutto, Pflugerville and the communities in between.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the first week of November brings film, football, Día de los Muertos and the end of daylight saving time. Here's what's happening around Austin and Round Rock from October 30 through November 5.

Saturday, October 31: Halloween

Last day of the Round Rock Pumpkin Festival

Saturday is your last chance this season to visit the Round Rock Pumpkin Festival, open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pick a pumpkin, then let the kids loose on the corn pit, farm animals, barrel train, pumpkin painting and bounce houses. Leashed pets are welcome, and teachers, military, first responders, seniors 65+ and kids 2 and under get in free (with ID where required).

Longhorns football: Texas vs. Mississippi State

The Texas Longhorns host Mississippi State at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium on Halloween. Expect heavy traffic around campus and downtown on game day, so plan your trick-or-treating routes and dinner reservations accordingly.

Halloween in your neighborhood

Many Round Rock, Hutto, Georgetown and Pflugerville neighborhoods host their own trick-or-treating, trunk-or-treats and porch parties. Check your HOA or neighborhood Facebook group for the details, and keep an eye out for little ghosts and goblins crossing the street after dark.

Sunday, November 1

Día de los Muertos at Waterloo Park

Waterloo Greenway hosts a free Día de los Muertos celebration at the Moody Amphitheater in downtown Austin from 4 to 8 p.m., with community altars (including a pet altar), ballet folklórico, Danza Azteca and mariachi performances. It's a beautiful, meaningful evening for the whole family.

Fall back!

Daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning, so set your clocks back one hour before bed Saturday night. Enjoy the extra hour of sleep.

All week: Austin Film Festival (through November 5)

The Austin Film Festival runs October 29 through November 5 at venues across Austin, with premieres, screenings, panels and conversations with filmmakers and screenwriters. Many screenings sell out, so check the schedule and grab tickets early.

Local spotlight: Round Rock Donuts

No weekend in Round Rock is complete without a stop at Round Rock Donuts near downtown, a hometown institution famous for its golden glazed donuts and the giant "Texas Donut." Go early on weekends, because the line moves fast but it's often out the door.

Day trip idea: the Texas Renaissance Festival

Looking for a weekend road trip? The Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission is open weekends through November 29, and this weekend's theme is All Hallows Eve. See our 2026 Renaissance Festival guide for dates, tickets and tips.
