Best area to buy a home in Round Rock Texas

by Trina Heinmiller

Short answer: there isn’t one “best” area in Round Rock—there’s a best-for-you based on schools, commute, budget, and vibe. Here’s the lay of the land so you can pick your lane.

If you want golf/amenities and pride-of-place

  • Forest Creek (SE RR) and Teravista (NE RR)
Golf, pools, trails, and that “buttoned-up” look. Expect mid-to-upper pricing; great for those who’ll actually use the amenities.

If you’re chasing new(er) build energy

  • Siena / Paloma Lake / Mayfield Ranch / Hidden Glen/Avery Centre/Villas of Chandler Creek
Family-friendly, relatively modern stock, good access to 130/35. Watch the pipeline: more inventory is coming to NE RR over the next few years, which can temper price acceleration.

If budget and quick access trump everything

  • Turtle Creek, South Creek, Round Rock Ranch, Greenslopes
More attainable entry points and townhome options in places; great for first-timers. Median list prices here are typically lower than the master-planned north side.

If you want “established” and central

  • Round Rock West, Oaklands, Wood Glen
Mature trees, close to downtown RR, solid access. Price points run mid-to-upper depending on lot/updates. Wood Glen often lists high with larger homes.

55+ (age-restricted)

  • Vizcaya
Purpose-built for active adults; convenient to I-35 and medical. Check HOA scope and amenity fit.
